The Oireachtas Library & Research Service (L&RS) is the parliamentary library for Ireland. The L&RS supports Members in their parliamentary duties by providing information and research services.
The L&RS produces analytical briefings on legislation, research to support committees and briefings on topical issues and matters relevant to the Houses’ weekly schedule. A fundamental value of the L&RS is impartiality. Established in 1924 as the Oireachtas Library, it changed its name to Library & Research Service in 2005 to reflect the modernisation of the service and its provision of additional services to parliament.
