Energy Policy
132. Deputy Paul Murphy asked the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications if, in relation to the proposed Electricity Storage Framework Policy for Ireland, he will ensure that a proper regulatory structure with particular emphasis on safety standards is put in place; and if he will instruct his Department to seek expert advice and that international guidelines on safety are followed, based on the internationally recognised NFPA 855 (2023), verifying all battery cells conform with UL9540a specifications and testing (including second life batteries) is up to date in regard to NFPA, EPRI and independent experts in the field.
