The Oireachtas Joint Committee on the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution held its first meeting today. The committee met in private session and elected Senator Catherine Noone Chairman.
The committee was established in April to consider the Citizens’ Assembly report on the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution. The Joint Committee is required to report its conclusions and recommendations to both Houses of the Oireachtas within three months of its first public meeting.
