Standing Order 112 Select Committee to assess EU draft legislative proposals

7 Jun 2016, 15:15

The Dáil Standing Order 112 Select Committee will meet tomorrow Wednesday, 8th June, at 2.30pm in Committee Room 2, Leinster House.

The Select Committee is a transitional committee established by the Dáil to execute Oireachtas powers under the Lisbon Treaty as an interim measure, in particular, to ensure that EU draft legislative acts adhere to the ‘principle of subsidiarity’ as defined under the Treaty.

Tomorrow, the Committee will carry out further Scrutiny of COM(2016)198 with the assistance of officials from the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. The proposal is for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2013/34/EU as regards disclosure of income tax information by certain undertakings and branches, which may have implications here as the proposed measures will apply to certain large companies with headquarters, subsidiary or branches in Ireland.

It will also carry out subsidiarity Assessment of EU Draft Legislative Proposal: COM(2016)290

COM(2016)290 is a proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council
amending Regulation (EC) No 539/2001 listing the third countries whose nationals must be in possession of visas when crossing the external borders and those whose nationals are exempt from that requirement

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
