PAC to hear from Garda Commissioner as examination of financial procedures in Garda College resumes

The Committee will also meet with the representatives from the Policing Authority and the Department of Justice and Equality.

The agenda for tomorrow’s meeting is:

Examination of Matters arising from the Interim Report of AGS Internal Audit Unit on Financial Procedures at the Garda College Templemore (resumed)

Session A: 9 a.m. [Commissioner of An Garda Síochána]

Session B:  7 p.m. [The Policing Authority & the Department of Justice and Equality]

Committee Chairman Seán Fleming said: “The findings of an internal audit carried out by An Garda Síochána have highlighted serious issues in relation to financial controls and management of funds at the Garda College in Templemore. Tomorrow, the Committee will continue its examination of matters related to the Garda Interim Audit Report on Financial Procedures in the Garda College when we will hear from Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan. We will be keen to discuss financial controls, compliance and how corporate governance is exercised in relation to the College and to get an update on how the recommendations in the report are being implemented. Later in the day we will meet with representatives from the Policing Authority and the Department of Justice and Equality to discuss the Interim Audit Report and their oversight role in relation to the issues raised.”

This meeting with the Garda Commissioner will start in Committee room 3 at 9am on Tuesday, 20 June 2017. The meeting with representatives from the Policing Authority and the Department of Justice and Equality will start at 7pm.
