Children and Youth Affairs Committee to meet with Tusla CEO Fred McBride on Foster Care Services

The Joint Committee on Children and Youth Affairs will tomorrow discuss issues arising in foster care services in Ireland with Mr. Fred McBride, Tusla CEO, and his officials.

The meeting will commence at 9.00am in Committee Room 3 tomorrow, Wednesday, 21 June 2017.

Committee Chairman Jim Daly TD, said “Tomorrow we will resume our examination of foster care services in Ireland and will have the opportunity to meet with Tusla CEO, Mr. Fred McBride. The distressing reports that have emerged over the last number of weeks and months, including the recent RTÉ documentary ‘Chaos in Care, will be foremost on our agenda tomorrow. Indications of systemic failures in care, and a lack of adequate legislation providing for robust regulation, are worrying in the extreme and Members look forward to putting their concerns directly to Mr. McBride. Members will also discuss the future plans for the child and family agency and discuss the effect that the negative and damaging reports, that we are seeing all too often, is having on the organisation.”
