Justice & Equality Committee resumes consideration of General Scheme of Data Protection Bill 2017

The Joint Committee on Justice and Equality will resume pre-legislative scrutiny of the Data Protection Bill 2017 tomorrow, Wednesday, 21 June 2017 when it meets with Denis Kelleher, barrister and author.

The General Scheme of Data Protection Bill 2017 is designed to give effect to, and provide for derogations from, the General Data Protection Regulation. It also transposes the Law Enforcement Directive (2016/680) which concerns the processing of personal data for the purposes of the prevention, investigation, detection or prosecution of criminal offences, and the free flow of such data.

This meeting will start in Committee Room 2 at 9am on Wednesday, 21 June 2017.
