Future of Healthcare Committee to hear from Dr Brian Turner

24 Ean 2017, 13:41

The Oireachtas Committee on the Future of Healthcare will meet with Dr Brian Turner from the School of Economics at University College Cork tomorrow, Wednesday, 25 January 2017 as part of its hearings on health service reform.

Chair of the Committee, Roisin Shortall, says: “Tomorrow we will continue our discussions on health service reform when we will hear from health economist Dr Brian Turner. Dr Turner lectures in the School of Economics at UCC, focusing in particular on health and insurance issues and he is a frequent contributor to national media discussions on the Irish health system. The Committee will be interested in getting his perspective on establishing a universal single tier high quality service where patients are treated on the basis of health need rather than on ability to pay and on future funding models for our health service.”

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 3, Leinster House from 10 am on Wednesday, 25 January 2017.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
