The Select Committee on Members' Interests of Seanad Éireann performs the functions conferred on it by the Ethics in Public Office Acts 1995 and 2001. These functions are to
- draw up and publish guidelines concerning steps to be taken by Members to ensure compliance by them with the Acts
- draw up a code of conduct for Members
- advise Members on the provisions of the Acts
- investigate alleged contraventions of the Acts by Members
The adoption of Seanad Standing Order 97 established the Select Committee on Members' Interests of Seanad Éireann.
