The Committee on Procedure is a standing committee and its terms of reference are contained within Standing Order 107. The committee's name was changed from the Committee on Procedure and Privileges on 28 June 2016.
Standing Order 61 - Privilege: utterances in the nature of being defamatory
If you consider that you have been referred to in the Dáil Chamber in a defamatory way, you can make a submission to the Committee on Procedure under Standing Order 61. Your submission must be made not later than six weeks after the making of the utterance, or by the time of the dissolution of the Dáil, whichever is the sooner, and must be otherwise in accordance with the Standing Order.
