The work of the Committee ceased after it published its final progress report.
On 4 July 2018, the Seanad Special Select Committee on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union was established to consider the withdrawal negotiations of the UK from the EU and the implementation of recommendations made by the previous committee, established on 23 February 2017 and which published its report entitled Brexit: Implications and Potential Solutions in June 2017.
The previous Seanad Special Select Committee focused particularly on the implications of the UK’s withdrawal for the economy, relations between the State and Northern Ireland, citizenship rights and the movement of goods, services and people across the border. It also considered the implications for agriculture, fisheries, transport, energy, communications, welfare, health and education.
