Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 29A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Frank O'Rourke - Garda resources in north County Kildare; (2) Deputies John Curran, Colm Brophy, Seán Crowe, Eoin Ó Broin and Paul Murphy - the need for a secondary school for Citywest and Saggart in County Dublin; (3) Deputy Dara Calleary - to consider the use of nursing homes as a solution to HSE bed management issues; (4) Deputy Darragh O'Brien - the preparedness of the passport service to reduce delays with the holiday season; (5) Deputy Michael Moynihan - that the Minister for Education and Skills would provide an update on the progress of the new amalgamated primary school in Kanturk, County Cork; (6) Deputy Pat Buckley - to discuss problems accessing the child and adolescent mental health service, CAMHS, for young people in mental health difficulties due to shortages of staff; (7) Deputy James Lawless - the need to protect our democracy against emerging online threats; (8) Deputy Peadar Tóibín - the development of professional health services for Lyme disease sufferers in Ireland; (9) Deputy Dessie Ellis - to discuss the difficulties faced by refugees in Ireland with regard to the reunification of families from war zones such as Syria and the requirement to be in independent accommodation for this to occur; (10) Deputy John Brassil - to ask the Minister for Education and Skills to request his Department overturn the decision not to uphold the appeal by Caherleaheen national school, Tralee, County Kerry, and if he will make a statement on the matter; (11) Deputies Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire, Mick Barry and Jonathan O'Brien - the needs of a prisoner, details supplied, who is being released from prison and needs residential care because of mental health issues; (12) Deputy Brendan Ryan - the need for a location for St Michael's House special national school, Skerries, County Dublin; (13) Deputy Róisín Shortall - the need for the Minister of State with responsibility for disability issues to outline the reason for the delay in the signing of the so-called optional protocol as was agreed would happen in tandem with the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, UNCRPD, by the Department of Justice and Equality, and if he will commit to signing the protocol as soon as practicable; (14) Deputy Tony McLoughlin - the absence of Sligo and Leitrim secondary schools from the leaving certificate PE pilot scheme; (15) Deputy Mattie McGrath - funding for the extension and works at St Teresa's Hospital, Clogheen, County Tipperary; (16) Deputy Fiona O'Loughlin - problems with delay of tender for St. Paul's school, Monasterevin; (17) Deputies Louise O'Reilly and Maurice Quinlivan - the increase in patient numbers on trolleys in acute hospitals; (18) Deputy Robert Troy - to address the recent decision to withdraw 55 m Luas carriages from service and the need for the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to give a full account of the issues surrounding the introduction and subsequent withdrawal of these trams; (19) Deputy Clare Daly - to discuss Ireland's involvement in the permanent structured co-operation, PESCO, and the erosion of Ireland's neutrality; (20) Deputy Martin Ferris - staffing resources at University Hospital Kerry; (21) Deputy Brian Stanley - to discuss with the Minister the need for a plan for the future of Abbeyleix hospital in County Laois; (22) Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett - the attempt by Trinity College Dublin to introduce flat rate fees for repeat exams; (23) Deputy Niamh Smyth - to ask the Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation the actions she is taking to protect jobs at Kerry Foods, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan; (24) Deputy Joan Collins - integrated lights for powered wheelchairs; and (25) Deputy Mick Wallace - to discuss the National Asset Management Agency, NAMA's, email retention policy.

The matters raised by Deputies Frank O'Rourke, Brendan Ryan, Tony McLoughlin, and Louise O'Reilly and Maurice Quinlivan have been selected for discussion.
