EU Affairs Committee to receive update on European issues from Minister of State Helen McEntee

8 Nov 2017, 12:10

The Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will meet with the Minister of State for European Affairs, Helen McEntee, tomorrow to discuss key developments on the European Agenda.

The meeting will start at 2pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

Committee Chair, Michael Healy Rae TD, commented, “Tomorrow’s meeting is an important one as it affords the Committee the chance to engage directly with the Minister of State on a variety of issues relating to Europe during this crucial period. Some of the matters likely to come up tomorrow include the Future of Europe, the September and October meetings of the General Affairs Council (GAC) and of course, Brexit. Member States have also reached broad agreement on the Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) on defence. The Committee will be keen to hear from the Minister on the approach Ireland has taken to the discussions on PESCO in order to allow us to participate in PESCO in a way that respects our long-standing policy of neutrality.”
