Budgetary Oversight Committee continues hearings on equality and gender budgeting

The Committee on Budgetary Oversight will resume its consideration of equality budgeting when it meets with representatives from the National Women’s Council of Ireland on Tuesday, 27 February 2018.

Committee Chairman Colm Brophy said: “Tomorrow we will continue our hearings on equality budgeting which involves scrutinising budget decisions for the impacts they may have on equality in society and on gender. We will meet with representatives of the National Women’s Council of Ireland to get their perspectives on the pilot Equality Budgeting programme and progress to date in integrating equality budgeting indicators into the estimates process. The Committee's role is to oversee and monitor the equality budgeting processes, and we will be preparing a report on this matter.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 3, Leinster House at 4pm on Tuesday, 27 February 2018. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.
