EU Commissioner Gunther H. Oettinger to appear before Finance Committee to discuss future of EU Finances

The Finance Committee will sit tomorrow at 3.15pm in Committee Room 3, Leinster House.

The meeting will focus on matters relating to the Multiannual Financial Framework and the Reflection Paper on the Future of EU Finances.
Mr. Gunther H. Oettinger, EU Commissioner - Budget & Human Resources, will appear before the Committee.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Chair John McGuinness TD, said today, In the context of the debate on the future of Europe, Commissioner Oettinger co-authored a paper on the future of EU finances and it is this paper that the Committee will focus on tomorrow. The EU budget faces a tough challenge to fund more with less. Some of the issues likely to be discussed tomorrow include spending priorities;  options open to the EU from reducing spending for existing policies to increasing revenues; how to deal with the gap in EU finances arising from Brexit and what steps could be taken to account for the shrinking EU budget.”
