Finance Committee to focus EU proposals for taxation of the digital economy

25 Apr 2018, 12:27

EU proposals for Taxation of the Digital Economy will be on the agenda of the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach at its meeting on Thursday, 26 April 2018.

Committee Chairman John McGuinness TD said: “The EU Commission published legislative proposals on 21 March that would require all Member States to introduce ‘rules relating to the corporate taxation of a significant digital presence’. The proposal aims to reform corporate tax rules so that profits are registered and taxed where businesses have significant interaction with users through digital channels. As Ireland may be significantly impacted by these proposals the Committee will be examining the issue in detail with the help of MEPs Brian Hayes and Matt Carthy. Other issues for discussion include Banking Union, in particular the designation of non-performing loans and cohesion policy and structural funding."

This meeting will start in Committee Room 2, Leinster House at 10am on Thursday, 26 April 2018. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
