Justice & Equality Committee to discuss Garda Síochána oversight and accountability

Garda Síochána oversight and accountability will be on the agenda of the Joint Committee on Justice and Equality on Wednesday 28 February 2018 when it meets with representatives from the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.

Committee Chairman Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD said: “The purpose of today’s engagement is to meet with the Garda Síochána Ombudsman’s Commission in order to revisit the issue of Garda oversight accountability, and to look at progress in implementing the recommendations of the Committee’s 2016 report on this subject. We shall also consider GSOC’s own proposals for a stand-alone piece of legislation for GSOC.”

The meeting will take place at 9am in Committee Room 2, Leinster House.
