Employment Affairs & Social Protection Committee to focus on JobPath and EU legislative proposal

7 Márta 2018, 14:44

The employment activation measure JobPath will be on the agenda of the Joint Committee on Employment Affairs and Social Protection at its meeting on Thursday, 8 March 2018.

Committee Chairman John Curran TD said: “Labour activation measures were a key issue identified and prioritised by the Committee in our work programme.  JobPath is an approach to employment activation which caters mainly for people who are long-term unemployed, over 12 months, to assist them to secure and sustain full-time paid employment or self-employment.

Tomorrow, officials from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection will attend our meeting where we will discuss JobPath in greater detail. In particular, we will want to get some perspective on the efficiency of the scheme and if it is helping participants secure full-time work.”

The Committee will also carry out further scrutiny of EU legislative proposal: Schedule A: COM (2017) 797, a proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on transparent and predictable working conditions in the European Union

This meeting will start at 10.30am on Thursday, 8 March 2018 in Committee Room 4, Leinster House. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
