Vol. 130 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tullamore Nurses' Home.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the urgent need for the erection of a new nurses' home at the County Hospital, Tullamore, County Offaly; if proposals in the matter have been submitted to his Department for approval; what steps are being taken (1) by the Offaly County Council, and (2) by his Department, to have this work commenced which will result in more space being available in the county hospital for patients when the nurses home is completed, and if every effort will be made to expedite the matter.

Diagrammatic sketch plans for the new nurses' home at the County Hospital, Tullamore, have been completed and were received in my Department on Wednesday last, 26th March. These are being dealt with as quickly as possible so that the project can proceed to the next stage, viz., the preparation of final sketch plans.

When this nurses' home has been erected accommodation will be released in the County Hospital providing 30 extra beds for patients.
