Vol. 305 No. 2

Written Answers. - Fresh Water Fish.

444.

asked the Minister for Fisheries how, and to what extent, EEC funds are used to increase the supply of fresh water fish; and if he or the Community have any policy to promote the supply of fish in rivers and lakes to compensate in part for the fall off in supplies of saltwater fish.

It is the policy of my Department to develop to the fullest extent all our inland fishery resources and regard is had at all times to the possibility of EEC funds being available to assist in the implementation of the development programme in hands. Several inland fishery undertakings have been submitted to the EEC for consideration for grant assistance and one such project has been approved.
