asked the Minister for Social Welfare if she is aware of the very limited accommodation resulting in serious overcrowding of her Department offices at Dublin Road, Portlaoise, County Laois; and if, in the public interest, the improvement of working conditions for her staff and overall efficiency of the office, if she will lease additional accommodation which is available in the building.

The accommodation needs of the Department of Social Welfare are dealt with by the Office of Public Works. The possible acquisition of additional office accommodation for social welfare officers at the premises located at Dublin Road, Portlaoise, has accordingly been referred to the Office of Public Works for consideration.
