Vol. 383 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cork City Local Authority Housing.

117.

asked the Minister for Environment if, in view of the sharp decrease in capital allocation for house construction in the Cork city local authority area, it is his intention to provide additional money to speed up and expedite the bricking-up programme for rapidly deteriorating housing stock in the area.

A sum of £2 million was allocated to the corporation in respect of their 1988 programme for refurbishment works on certain estates. The Government recently announced a provision of £15 million for the remedial works scheme next year. Allocations to individual authorities are being considered in the context of the overall demands for financial assistance under the scheme and the funds available.
