Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh to address Seanad Éireann as part of Bliain na Gaeilge

On foot of an invitation from Seanad Éireann, Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh will address the House on Wednesday, 21 March 2018 to mark Bliain na Gaeilge.

Under Seanad Éireann procedures, people from public and civic society may be invited to address the House on specific issues.

Cathaoirleach of the Seanad Senator Denis O’Donovan said: “We are honoured that Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh has agreed to address Seanad Éireann to mark Bliain na Gaeilge celebrating the Irish language. As a renowned commentator and Irish language speaker, with a career spanning many decades, it is fitting that Mr Ó Muircheartaigh will discuss the use of Irish in the community, in sport, the media, the arts, education and in politics. We are looking forward to his address and to an engaging discussion on promoting the Irish language in all aspects of Irish life.”

This address will take place at 1pm on Wednesday, 21 March 2018 in the Seanad Chamber. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.
