Joint Committee on European Union Affairs to discuss the priorities of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union

The Joint Committee on European Union Affairs will meet on Wednesday January 17th for a discussion on the priorities of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The meeting will take place between 10:00-12:30 in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Colm Brophy said: “We welcome the opportunity to discuss Belgium’s priorities for its Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This presidency comes at a moment when the European Union stands at a crossroads, dealing with the consequences of the war in Ukraine, migration and asylum, disinformation, the energy crisis, extreme climate events, and a renewed conflict in the Middle East.”

Mr Julien Thonar, First Secretary

Mrs Karle De Volder, Second Secretary
