Our role

Committee on Standing Orders and Dáil Reform

The Committee on Standing Orders and Dáil Reform considers matters of procedure generally, including procedure in standing, select or special Committees, and may make recommendations on amendments to Standing Orders.

The Committee also considers and makes recommendations on the establishment of new standing, select or special Committees.

The Committee has the power to:

  • appoint sub-Committees
  • engage consultants
  • travel
  • print and publish reports and to authorise sub-Committees to report directly to the Dáil

The Committee was established by the adoption of a new Standing Order on 5 March 2020.
