Vol. 57 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Seizures for Unpaid Annuities.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the number of seizures made in Cork County by the Land Commission on foot of decrees for unpaid annuities during the past six months; the amount paid into the Land Commission during the same period as a result of those seizures, and the total costs incurred by his Department in connection with this matter.

The Land Commission have no information as to the number of seizures made by the sheriff for Cork County on foot of decrees for unpaid instalments of annuity during the past six months, nor have they any particulars to show to what extent payments made to them by the sheriff resulted from seizures. Costs are not incurred by the Land Commission in connection with such seizures.

Is it possible that the Land Commission are getting no return at all from the under-sheriff with regard to the amount realised at those sales?

No, but the returns are not furnished in such a way as to indicate whether the moneys received are as a result of seizures or otherwise.
