asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if sites for the building of labourers' cottages in Athenry, County Galway, have been acquired; and, if so, if such sites have been inspected and with what result; whether application for a loan for the erection of labourers' cottages in Athenry has been made to his Department by the Galway Board of Health; and, if so, if sanction has been given for the loan.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Labourers' Cottages—Athenry.
Sites have not yet been acquired. Certain sites have been inspected, but it is not clear that in their selection sufficient attention has been paid to the question of a water supply. An inspector is being sent to assist the Board in the formulation of a definite scheme. Sanction has been given to the raising of a loan for the Board's general housing scheme, in which the Athenry houses will be included.
