Vol. 59 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tobacco Crop.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he can state when the process of valuing samples of the 1934 tobacco crop was completed, whether catalogues of the tobacco from the various rehandling stations were prepared; and, if so, whether he can state on what date copies were submitted to the Minister for Industry and Commerce and to the rehandler, and if he is now in a position to indicate the lowest, highest and average prior realised for the 1934 crop.

As regards the first part of the question, I am to refer the Deputy to my reply to his question on the subject on 13th June last. Copies of catalogues of tobacco of the 1934 crop were sent to the rehandlers and to the Minister for Industry and Commerce on the 25th July and 26th July last respectively. The highest catalogue price paid by manufacturers to rehandlers for tobacco of the 1934 crop was 1/11 per lb.; the lowest 11d. per lb., and the average 1/3 per lb.
