Vol. 66 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - British Commonwealth and External Affairs.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether the status of association with the nations of the British Commonwealth involves any consultation or community of interests in regard to external affairs.

When a particular question arises in which there is a community of interest between Saorstát Eireann and any member or members of the Commonwealth group, consultation naturally follows, but association of itself by no means involves Saorstát Eireann in those foreign affairs of the other nations concerned which do not affect the interests of our people.
