Vol. 99 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Importation of Bag Manure.

Mr. O'Reilly

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is in a position to state whether there is sufficient bag manure available for farmers' requirements during the coming spring; and, if not, whether he will allow bag manure to be imported from Northern Ireland.

As the Deputy is, no doubt, aware, it has not been possible during the emergency to obtain anything like our full requirements of artificial fertilisers. It is, however, expected that the quantity available this season will be not less than that distributed in 1945. As regards the second part of the question I would refer the Deputy to the reply given by the Minister for Finance on 31st January to a question by Deputy Cogan in the matter.
