Vol. 99 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turbary for County Mayo Tenants.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that approximately 50 tenants in the townlands of Roos, Annfield, Frenchgrove and Darros in the Lindsay-Fitzpatrick Estate, County Mayo, are at present in possession of very small turbary plots, and if he will consider acquiring the 100 acres of bog adjacent, the property of Dr. Dermody, Darros, for distribution amongst those people.

The Land Commission have considered representations that they should acquire the bog in the townland of Darros owned by Dr. Michael Dermody. They do not propose to take action in the matter as investigation has shown that the cost of developing the bog would be out of all proportion to the results likely to be attained.
