Vol. 121 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition and Distribution of Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state, in respect of each of the financial years from 1932 to 1949, the total number of acres (a) acquired for land distribution; (b) distributed; (c) used in the enlargement of uneconomic holdings and the number of allottees who benefited by such enlargements, and (d) distributed amongst migrant allottees from congested areas, and the number of such allottees.

The information required at (a), (b) and (c) is to be found in the annual reports of the Irish Land Commissioners. I presume that part (d) of the question refers to migrants from the west to the east. This information is not readily available for the period prior to 1st April, 1937. The particulars since that date are in the form of a tabular statement which I will have circulated in the Official Report.

The statement is as follows:—
