asked the Minister for Agriculture if he intends to ensure afair price to the tomato growers operating under the Gaeltacht tomato growing schemes, either by guaranteeing a fixed price during the period of the tomato harvest or by restricting the import of foreign-grown tomatoes during that time.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gaeltacht-Grown Tomatoes.
Mr. Walsh
It is the intention to prohibit the importation of raw tomatoes during the period from 24th July, 1953, to 15th October, 1953. As a result, it is expected that home growers, including participants in the Gaeltacht glasshouse scheme, will obtain a fair price for their tomatoes.
