Vol. 168 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Widening of Church Street, Dublin.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is expected that the proposals for the widening of Church Street will be implemented.

I presume that the Deputy's question refers to the petition submitted by the Dublin Corporation asking for power to acquire certain properties in Church Street for the purpose of widening the street. The position is that on the 2nd instant I made a provisional Order granting the power sought, subject to some modifications of area. It is open to any interested person to present a petition, either to me or to the Circuit Court, within five weeks after the date on which he was served with a copy of the Order, praying that the Order or any specified part thereof shall not become law without further inquiry. If no petition is presented the Order will be confirmed after one week's notice.

The corporation cannot, of course, proceed further in this matter until the Order is confirmed.
