Vol. 213 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Expenses of Bord na gCon Chairman.

53.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the total expenses of the chairman of Bord na gCon in each year since the inception of the Board.

The information sought is not available to me. My only function in the matter is to fix, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, the allowances for expenses that may be paid by the Board to the chairman. I propose, with your permission a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report particulars of the rates fixed.

Following is the statement:

Rates of Expenses payable to the Chairman of Bord na gCon in connection with the business of the Board.

(a) Subsistence expenses at the following rates: 48/6 a night (24 hours), 16/2 day allowance (10 hours or more), and 7/9 for absences of more than 7 hours but less than 10 hours;

(b) Travelling expenses at rates varying between 10d. and 1/- per mile according to the horse power of car, for the first 9,000 miles travelled in a year and between 5¼d. and 7¼d. per mile for mileage in excess of 9,000 in the year;

(c) Entertainment expenses—refund of the actual amounts involved.
