Vol. 226 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hours of Work of Taxi and Hackney Drivers.

75.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of hours per day and per week which the driver of a taxi or hackney may work; and what steps are taken to ensure that it is possible for taximen to earn a reasonable income while working for not more than the limited periods.

There is no statutory limit on the number of hours which drivers of small public service vehicles may work, and there is no information available in my Department as to the hours worked by the drivers of such vehicles. I have no function in regard to the matter raised in the second part of the question.
