asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the amount of capital employed in the State-sponsored companies under his control; and the amount of interest paid in 1966 in respect of that capital.

The information is provided in the form of a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, it is proposed to circulate with the Official Report.

NOTES: (1) The figures for Nítrigin Éireann Teo. and Irish Steel Holdings Ltd. relate to the year ended 30th June, 1966. The figures for Min Fhéir (1959) Teo. and Ceimicí Teo. are in respect of the years ended 31st March, 1966 and 30th September 1966, respectively.

(2)As indicated in the notes to the published Accounts of Nítrigin Éireann Teo. for the year ended 30th June, 1966 provision was not made in these Accounts for interest on repayable advances made from the Exchequer, pending settlement of the conditions of repayment.

(3)In the case of Irish Steel Holdings, State investment is by way of cash for Ordinary Shares. The £17,438 shown as interest payments is in respect of commercial loans.

(4)State investment in Ceimicí Teo. is by way of cash for Ordinary Shares on which a dividend is paid. The dividend for the year ended 30th September, 1966 (after payment of tax) was £16,526.

(5)State investment in Min Fhéir (1959) Teo. took the form of cash for Ordinary Shares on which a dividend has not yet been paid.
