Vol. 233 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Secondary Students.

66.

asked the Minister for Education if he will consider making available financial help to Donegal students attending secondary schools in Northern Ireland to compensate them for being unable to avail of the scheme operated in County Donegal.

The free education scheme aims at providing the opportunity of post-primary education in our own schools for all our young people irrespective of family means or of the distance of the home from school.

It would not be appropriate that assistance be given under the scheme to County Donegal pupils who elect to attend schools in Northern Ireland.
