asked the Minister for Local Government (a) the total amount of debt of all the local authorities for the years ended 31st March, 1956, and 31st March, 1967, and at the latest available date; and (b) the cost of servicing this debt.

The total indebtedness of all local authorities, excluding harbour authorities, vocational education committees, and committees of agriculture, at 31st March, 1956, was £119.319 million. The corresponding figure for 1967, the latest year for which figures are available, is estimated at £210.17 million.

The estimated amount necessary to service this debt in the year ended 31st March, 1967, was £15.59 million.

I could not quite hear the Minister. Did he say "including" or "excluding"?
