Vol. 235 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Housing.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government the extent and location of all developed and undeveloped land in Dublin city and county on which the National Building Agency intend to erect housing units up to 1971.

The National Building Agency has no firm proposals on hands for the provision of housing in this area other than projects already completed or in progress.

Does the Minister not think they should have some proposals in view of the expanding city?

No. Housing is provided normally by the local authority.

Who provided the housing in Ballymun?

That was an exceptional measure and it was undertaken by the National Building Agency in order to add to the amount it was possible for the local authority to provide at that time.

Would the Minister not agree this housing was provided by the National Building Agency because of the tremendous demand? In view of that, would he not consider it essential for the National Building Agency to formulate proposals now for a continuation of such building in the years ahead?

If an appropriate opportunity arises to undertake a similar scheme, it will be done.

Would the Minister not consider it advisable——

Would the Deputy please allow Questions to continue? Question No. 11.
