Vol. 260 No. 12

Written Answers. - Postal Facilities.

136.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange to have a postal delivery made in the Togher, Cork area before 10 a.m. each day.

The major portion of Togher lies within Cork borough boundary and postal delivery to this portion is normally effected before 10.0 a.m. Delivery to the remainder of Togher, that is the rural portion, is made by 11.0 a.m. daily on average. Delivery arrangements in the suburban areas of Cork are being revised generally at present so as to provide earlier deliveries and it is expected that the Togher area will benefit from the revision.

137.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the large increase in population in the Togher area of Cork city, he will arrange to have an 8.30 p.m. collection from letter boxes in the area.

The 8.30 p.m. collections in Cork are made from only a limited number of letterboxes in the city and extension of the arrangement to other boxes would not be warranted because of the cost involved and the relatively small amount of correspondence which would benefit.
