Vol. 262 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Valley Floodings.

84.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will introduce legislation so that all flooded lands in the Shannon valley will be completely exempt from rates in view of the fact that the Shannon drainage scheme is unlikely to commence for a number of years; and what temporary measures he has in mind for the owners of flooded lands in the area.

The introduction of the suggested legislation is not contemplated; the liability of certain land holdings to periodic flooding is reflected in the rateable valuations of those holdings.
