Vol. 271 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Raw Materials.

191.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he proposes to introduce legislation which will make it illegal for individuals or companies to export raw materials or other products to subsidiary companies, associate companies or to companies of which they are directors, advisers or shareholders to prevent profit maximisation at the expense of the State.

I have no evidence that the practice referred to by the Deputy is widespread. If any such evidence comes to my attention I will certainly examine it to see if it calls for new legislation and if such legislation would be compatible with our obligations as members of the European Communities.
