Vol. 305 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hospital Facilities for Mothers.

15.

asked the Minister for Health the facilities that exist at public hospitals for the overnight stay of mothers of hospitalised children.

The provision of such facilities is primarily a matter for the hospital authorities concerned. In each of the three children's hospitals in Dublin there are facilities for mothers staying with their children but in the general hospitals in Dublin and elsewhere such facilities are available to only a very limited extent. In the new hospitals being developed throughout the country accommodation is being planned for the mothers of child patients—either in single rooms with the child, in an adjacent visitor's room or in hostel accommodation attached to the hospital.
