Vol. 322 No. 10

Written Answers. - Departmental Statistics.

228.

asked the Minister for Transport if, in view of recent criticisms of Irish official statistics, he has any plans to improve the statistics produced by his Department.

Basic responsibility for production of transport statistics rests with the Central Statistics Office.

The CSO is at present engaged in carrying out a survey of road freight transport which should help to provide up to date information in these areas. I am not aware of any complaints about the inadequacy of statistics in relation to sea and air transport.
