The applicant in this case has been requested to furnish evidence establishing his eligibility for a grant. The submission of this evidence is awaited.

211.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980, (as amended), the latest date for completion of the work and the receipt in the Department of a claim for payment of the grant was 30 June 1981. As this requirement was not complied with in this case, the grant cannot be paid. The applicant was so informed on 31 August 1981.

212.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant has been so informed.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

An essential repairs grant (involving payments by both the county council and the Department and relating to a special scheme) was paid in this case during 1981. The eligibility of the applicant for house improvement grants is being further clarified with the Department's inspector.

214.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A grant in respect of the building of an extra bedroom has been approved. A grant for the provision of water and sewerage facilities cannot be allowed because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, these facilities are already in existence in the house; neither can a grant be allowed for repairs to the house as the Department's inspector reported that such works were not necessary. The position in relation to the application for grants for the provision of a bathroom and chimney is that certain matters remain to be clarified by the Department's inspector.

217.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the balance of a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with a broadly similar name and the same address and the position in this case is that the balance of the grant cannot be paid because notification of the completion of work and a claim for payment of the balance was not received on or before 30 June 1981, as is required under the Housing Regulations (1980) as amended.

218.
