asked the Minister for Agriculture if he noted a comment made by the director of the Agricultural Institute on the need for replacement of imported animal feed products by home grown materials and if so, the action he proposes to take to help in righting the position.

On several occasions I have stressed the need for increasing home production of cereals and for replacing imported feed by our own native grain. Ample supplies of high quality home-produced feed grain are in fact currently available at reasonable prices and as much as possible of this grain should be included in livestock rations. While decisions as to the ingredients included in rations are essentially a matter for feed manufacturers and their customers, I see no reason why they should not incorporate more home-produced grain in the rations.
