Vol. 356 No. 10

Written Answers. - An Ceard Teastas Gaeilge.

704.

asked the Minister for Education the reason for the delay in the issue of a Ceard Teastas in the name of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; the reason, despite numerous inquiries which revealed that the Ceard Teastas was in fact awarded in 1976, no attempts has yet been made to issue the Ceard; and if she can now indicate when the Ceard will issue and, if not, the reason for its non-issue.

According to the records of my Department a certificate, known as An Ceard-Teastas Gaeilge, was issued by post to the person concerned on 29 October 1976.

Arising from subsequent correspondence between that person's solicitors and the office of the Chief State Solicitor, it was agreed that a second certificate would be issued. I am informed that the second certificate was issued from the office of the Chief State Solicitor on 11 January 1985 to the solicitors acting for the person concerned.
