asked the Minister for Defence the numbers and grade of each person employed in his Department who is aged 65 or over.

Two messengers and one cleaner who are over 65 years of age are employed in my Department. In addition 32 civilians over that age are employed by the Department with units of the Permanent Defence Force, their grades and numbers being as follows:—

28 of the civilians are aged between 65 and 66 and of the remaining four, one is being retained on grounds of hardship and three in special circumstances.
