Vol. 367 No. 3

Written Answers. - Extensions of Natural Gas Supply.

15.

asked the Minister for Energy if the contract for laying the natural gas pipeline to Limerick has been placed; and when work will commence.

19.

andDr. Ormonde asked the Minister for Energy if the contract for laying the gas pipeline to Clonmel and Waterford has been placed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 15 and 19 together.

Government decisions approving a supply of natural gas for Waterford and Limerick have been conveyed to Bord Gáis Éireann. The construction of the necessary pipelines, including the awarding of contracts, is a matter for the Board and one in which I have no function. However, I understand from BGE that almost all the work will be completed by the end of the year.

The position in relation to Clonmel is that revised proposals have been agreed between the corporation and BGE on a supply of natural gas for the town.

Questions Nos. 16 and 17 taken as oral.
